Swiss Garden Shuttleworth Wedding – Laura & Kyle
The stunning Swiss Gardens at Shuttleworth combined with a vintage airshow for this amazing wedding
Swiss Garden Shuttleworth Wedding – Laura & Kyle: I’d heard so many amazing details about the Swiss Gardens at Shuttleworth, I have to admit preparing to photograph Laura & Kyles wedding was quite exciting. Arriving on the day in beautiful sunshine and seeing that the very next day the Shuttleworth Collection were having their airshow with preparations including practice air displays were taking place, I could see that this day was going to be so epic! Before I started shooting it was great to have a catch up with Georgia, Shuttleworth’s wedding coordinator, who is super organised and such a pleasure to work with.
Laura and Kyle had planned their preparations and celebrations to be in the Mansion House at Shuttleworth, the wedding will be in the Swiss Cottage at the Swiss Gardens, a beautiful natural retreat however a little too far to walk for everyone from the main house. A vintage bus had been laid on to first take the guests and grooms party, then the bridal party then to return everyone back afterwards.
Preparations were going smoothly for both parties and I had been asked to accompany Kyle down in the bus to take some photos, then to return on my own in the bus (which was an absolute brilliant experience), to see Laura in her room to then accompany her back to the Swiss Gardens. The bus had to drive through the airshow preparations and one nugget of information I discovered is that some airplanes taking part in the 75th anniversary D-Day celebrations were to be here, including nine Dakota’s, which is the first time that so many had been in one place at the same time.
The Swiss Gardens were a beautiful backdrop to the wedding of Laura and Kyle, the Swiss Cotttage itself is set on top of a small rise with most of the guests having to sit or stand outside, but all having a great view of the ceremony due to the way the cottage is laid out. Afterwards with a confetti exit down the path organising by the happy couples young son, we moved quickly on to group shots, then some drinks and nibbles followed by a walk round the gardens to give the newly weds some time to themselves and to take some portraits.
Travelling back to the house, at the request of Laura we organised with Georgia and the bus driver to stop near one of the Dakota’s for some fun shots. Whilst we were getting organised an American air crew presented the newly weds with a D-Day commemorative bottle of red wine, flown over from the United States. With some amazing fly pasts and just everything being so jaw-droppingly amazing, it was hard to drag ourselves back on to the bus but with the wedding breakfast soon to be served, we had to head back to the house.
After speeches (where Kyle’s father took and hid the best mans notes), some epic dancing and a few evening portraits, I reflected on how awesome this day had been. Being asked to be a part of this beautiful day and to document it for the happy couple to keep for all time, such an honour and a pleasure. I want to offer Laura and Kyle a massive congratulations and thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer.
If you enjoyed reading this blog and you are planning your own wedding day at the stunning Swiss Garden at Shuttleworth or anywhere else in the country (or abroad), I would love to hear from you!
