Orchardleigh Wedding – Abby & Sam. I’ll start off by saying what an amazing experience this was, weddings like this do not come along very often and I feel truly blessed when they do. I met Abby & Sam locally and they said they were to be married at a Somerset venue that has a castle on the grounds, so they arranged for me to stay with Sam and his family at a local hotel the night before, then to spend the night at their venue. Having never photographed a wedding here I arranged to meet Abby quickly on my arrival to just gain familiarity and to check all the final plans and it is all just so stunning. What a place to choose for your wedding!

Bride prep for Abby started in the castle, with breakfast, hair, makeup and prosecco! Abby is a wedding cake maker and created the most stunning wedding cake, topped by a fully edible near life size version of their cat. The cake dominated the kitchen, Abby’s family were so careful moving it out of the castle in to the van to transport along the windy road up to the main house.

When it was time to head to Orchardleigh house itself, I spotted Sam’s Maserati parked perfectly just outside. He’s openly admitted this was the other love of his life and it definitely needed to be featured in the photos, especially as he had it wrapped to match the colours of the wedding.

As we progressed through the day, it was so clear that Abby & Sam were not to let the very random and heavy rain showers dampen their day. We had to be very spontaneous with the group shots, the confetti (which comprised of olive leaves, how cool is that!) and we had multiple attempts at portrait time eventually however completing everything we needed.

I loved this day so much. Not just because of the whole experience of being at this spectacular venue, but everyone was just such good fun, celebrating fully this special occasion with the newly wedded couple.

I need to make a special mention; Jemma of The Flower Shed Oxford. Abby said to me that she absolutely had to have Jemma supply her flowers for her wedding. When I met Jemma and seeing the flowers she produced plus the natural decorations she installed at the venue, I completely get it. And of course another special mention to New Beginnings Bridal Boutique who supplied Abby’s stunning dress.

Abby & Sam, it was so much fun to be your wedding photographer. Thank you for looking after me, providing the most brilliant of overnight stays, food and drinks, and for just being totally brilliant. Congratulations and here is the story of your day below!
