An amazing wedding day at the beautiful Rockingham Castle
Rockingham Castle Wedding – Sarah & Adam – With my family I love visiting some of the heritage sites round the UK, however although I’d heard of Rockingham Castle, I had never visited here so I didn’t realise what an amazing hidden gem this is! It is privately owned and is open to the public with beautiful grounds, a proper Royal Bastion and the interior is just jaw-droppingly amazing with a customary haunted room. What a place to book for your wedding!
I started by meeting Sarah at her family home, it was full on wedding prep and when Sarah got in to her beautiful dress (and what a stunner, look at the train below!), I could see the pre-wedding jitters kicking in properly. I left her in the care of her father and her bridesmaids whilst I went off to the castle to meet Adam.
Adam was also I think having his own case of the wedding jitters, however one thing I did not expect was the emotion from Adam when the wedding party started to come in, he was openly flowing with tears and I have to confess I nearly followed as it was such a beautiful moment when the stunning Sarah walked down the aisle, a lot of the wedding guests were wiping away a tear, it was hard not to get caught up in it all.
Following the ceremony the newlyweds walked through their confetti storm, we were ushered round to the lawn overlooking the beautiful countryside surrounding the castle, with drinks, nibbles and group shots. We then walked around the gardens which were absolutely perfect for newly wed portraits to then bring the couple back for their wedding breakfast and speeches. Following some time with the guests and a few extra portraits capturing some amazing sun/cloud displays the evening party started and what a party! A full dance floor from beginning to end with even Grandpa getting up to dance with his newly married granddaughter!
Marcus took and produced amazing photos of our wedding day. He was great to work with, very accommodating and listened to all our needs. His eye for making a picture even more spectacular is a real skill and anybody looking to find a wedding photographer should look no further than Marcus. We have recently received our photos from the great day and my wife was so pleased to find pictures which she thought nobody had, which really goes to show that Marcus is such a great photographer and never misses a thing – Sarah & Adam

Rebecca of Rebecca Chantrelle Makeup, who not only did an amazing job with Sarah’s hair and makeup, was also smashing to work with, but very very importantly helped guide Sarah through those last nervous moments of prep, providing lots of reassurances and making sure her dress and everything else was all perfect.
Emma of Rockingham Castle, Emma organises the weddings here and is completely switched on both making sure the couple are super comfortable and relaxed but also that all the timings of the day work as they should. Also allowing us to sneak in to the haunted room for a few portraits really was an amazing opportunity and thank you for the lovely coffee and the meal, thank you so much!
Massive kudos as well to Portfolio Events for looking after everyone with their top level catering and service all day and evening.
To Sarah and Adam, it was an absolute pleasure to be your wedding photographer and thank you for choosing me plus looking after me through out the day with bacon rolls, posh coffee and of course the hot meal during your wedding breakfast.
