Oxford Elopement Wedding – Eva & Ben. Remembering back to the extremely brief email from Ben followed up by the absolutely brilliantly chatty phone call from Eva, I guessed this wedding would have something different and special about it. The pre-wedding shoot had a very different flavour than usual, with a trip to Marlow along the Thames in Ben’s sizeable luxury boat from the private quay at the back of their home, then a burn in Ben’s Ferrari California T for a few extra photographs. Although it is of course work and my role was to take photos, I will openly admit I had the best time ever.

Come the day and knowing that the wedding was to be only Ben and Eva, their two daughters, the girls hired nanny and myself, it had that beautiful intimate feeling that all elopement style weddings have. The prep room at Malmaison Oxford was a two level suite, with Eva secreted away in the top level in a little room, Ben having the run of the rest of it. Although Eva could lay eyes on Ben, Ben was not allowed to lay eyes on Eva, and it worked!

Ben drove Eva and returned for us to walk the five minutes from the hotel to Oxford Registry offices. After a fun wedding ceremony with the girls Nanny and myself acting as witnesses to the wedding, we then headed back to the hotel for a little break. Afterwards we headed off in to the centre of Oxford and to Trinity College for an extended newly wed portrait session. It was Saturday afternoon on a beautiful sunny day, Oxford itself was a bit mad but the calm provided by the privacy of Trinity College was just amazing. Top kudos for Eva’s friend for allowing us in and we found the beautiful chapel allowing us to take some lovely intimate portraits.

Back at the hotel with additional photos that included the kids, plus some extra portrait time, it was time to leave and I actually felt quite sad the day was over. I had such a brilliant time with Eva and Ben, also the kids were just fab.

To Eva and Ben, I loved your wedding day and it was so much fun being your wedding photographer, I’m so glad you chose me for your day. Thank you also for looking after me drinks and snacks, it all helps me concentrate on the important task of taking photographs on your wedding day. Congratulations guys!
