Old Luxters Barn is a unique venue for weddings and events in Oxfordshire. This lovely 18th century converted barn has a charming rustic appeal, with all modern conveniences discreetly to hand. It is located in the Hambleden Valley, near Henley-on-Thames, and is set within a renowned Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The barn is part of Chiltern Valley Winery, Brewery and Vineyard, offering a truly different and atmospheric location for a wedding at any time of year.
I have photographed a few weddings here and always look forward to visiting again. To be asked by Anya and William to be their wedding photographer was just perfect, especially since I first met them at her brother’s wedding a few years ago. Finding out their choice of venue was Old Luxters Barn was the icing on the cake.
They decided on having two photographers for the day. I had my good friend and associate Chris covering groom prep, whilst I was with Anya for the bride prep. We then met up at Old Luxters Barn for a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Does every wedding need a second photographer? No, not always. But to ensure we captured all the great moments happening throughout the day, it was a brilliant choice by Anya and William. The full set of images really does tell a complete story from the very beginning all the way to the end. Plus Anya looked stunning, (as did William of course!), to have just a few extra moments here and there to capture extra portraits of her, was very welcome.
My approach to wedding photography has always been about capturing real, authentic moments as they naturally unfold. Even during the portrait time, everything is kept as relaxed as possible. It is more of a gentle wander with the occasional pause for photos, very little direction, and plenty of space for genuine moments to happen.
I absolutely loved being part of the wedding day and had such a brilliant time photographing it. Anya and William, I am so glad you chose me to tell your story. Thank you as well for keeping me fuelled with drinks, snacks, and that incredible venue meal. It makes a massive difference when the job is to stay focused and capture everything properly. Huge congratulations to you both!
